India Women beat Zimbabwe Women by 92 runs in the third and final T20I in Raipur to complete a 3-0 series sweep. It was India’s biggest home win by runs in women’s T20 internationals.
A Big Total
India were asked to bat first and made a strong start. Shafali Verma struck 69 off 37 balls, and by the 14th over India were 146/2. Harmanpreet Kaur then took over. She finished unbeaten on 91 off 41 balls, an innings that pushed India to 216/7 in their 20 overs, though a few late wickets kept the total from being even bigger. Beloved Biza was the pick of Zimbabwe’s bowlers with 3/50.
Zimbabwe Fall Away
Chasing 217, Zimbabwe lost an early wicket when Kranti Gaud dismissed Kelis Ndhlovu for a first-ball duck. Sharne Mayers, who top-scored with 60, and Biza, who made 44, tried to keep the chase alive, but the required rate kept climbing. Nandani Sharma was the best of India’s bowlers with 3/18, and Zimbabwe finished on 124/7, 92 runs short.
What It Means
India finish the series with three wins out of three: a four-wicket win in a nervy first match, a nine-wicket win in the second, and this 92-run rout. The result also shows how much depth India have, with Harmanpreet playing a match-winning innings under new captain Smriti Mandhana and Nandani Sharma and Niki Prasad emerging as bowling options. For Zimbabwe, the series ends with another heavy defeat, and they have now lost every T20I they have played this year.
